YouthWorks: Helping our community's youth to help themselves
YouthWorks is an innovative approach to connecting out-of-school youth in Southwestern Connecticut to workforce development services. YouthWorks helps youth who need occupational training become valuable, self-reliant members of the community.
Eligibility:
Low-income youth, 14 to 21 years of age facing barriers to economic self-sufficiency are eligible. Barriers include: deficiencies in basic skills, no high school diploma or GED, homeless or runaway, foster child in an unstable living environment, and criminal record.

- Hazwoper / Asbestos Workers
- Microsoft Office User Specialists
- Human Services
- Customer Service
All participants receive comprehensive counseling and guidance, as well as follow-up for at least 12 months by Youth Workforce Specialists of The WorkPlace, Inc.
The 2009/2010 youth programs are administered by contracted providers in the Southwestern CT region including: Career Resources, Inc., Marrakech, Inc., City of Milford, FSW, Inc., Literacy Volunteers of Southeastern Fairfield County, Bridgeport Area Youth Ministry, Inc., NEON, Corraro Center for Careers and the Yearwood Center, Inc.
YouthWorks is a project of The WorkPlace, Inc. in partnership with various contracted providers.
