What is YouthBuild?
YouthBuild programs provide pathways to education, jobs, entrepreneurship, and other opportunities leading to productive livelihoods and community leadership. The program helps young people to rebuild their communities and their lives, breaking the cycle of poverty with a commitment to work, education, family, and community. All services are provided at no cost.
The YouthBuild Program
YouthBuild is a pre-apprentice program that helps residents that reside in the Southwest Region between the ages of 16 and 24, earn their GED, learn construction and manufacturing skills. In addition participants engage in academic supports and leadership opportunities through community service projects.
At YouthBuild, low-income young people learn construction skills by building affordable housing for homeless and low-income people in their neighborhoods and other community assets such as playgrounds. For unemployed young people who left high school without a diploma, YouthBuild is an opportunity to reclaim their education, gain the skills they need for employment, and become leaders in their communities.
