BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — The WorkPlace is calling on the community to nominate a veteran who honorably served the nation and continues to add to the quality of the community.
This is an opportunity to acknowledge an outstanding individual who has gone beyond their employer’s basic mission and purpose and may typically go unrecognized.
The selected individual will be honored at the 4th Annual Service to Country and Community Awards Event. They are currently accepting nominations for the person to be given this honor.
Past recipients include an educator who went on to become a school principal, a board member at Homes for the Brave, trained emergency first responders and a youth sports coach. Nomination forms and instructions are available by calling The WorkPlace at (203)-610-8496 or by clicking here .
The deadline to submit nominations is Sept. 3. The selection committee will consist of representatives from Port 5 Naval Veterans, Housatonic Community College, Alpha Community Services YMCA, The WorkPlace’s Valor Programs and the Connecticut Department of Labor’s Office for Veterans Workforce Development.
The veteran’s military history, support of veteran programs and services and contributions to civic activities and community initiatives will be considered when selecting the award recipient.
The WorkPlace is taking nominations from its service area: Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Bridgeport, Darien, Derby, Easton, Fairfield, Greenwich, Monroe, New Canaan, Norwalk, Oxford, Seymour, Shelton, Stamford, Stratford, Trumbull, Weston, Westport, and Wilton. The event will be held on November 9 at Port 5 Naval Veterans located in Bridgeport.
