If so, our youth programs are for you! Explore a career through the CareerHub. We offer skills training as well as job search and placement services. Our team of knowledgeable workforce specialists can help each young person discover their career interest and work toward attaining the skills needed to gain employment. We want to keep you moving in the direction of your goals. You will receive job coaching, skills training, credentials, and job placement at no cost to you!

CareerHub Year Round Program
Southwestern Connecticut young adults, up to age 24 who are in school and out of school can apply to participate in community-based training programs funded by The WorkPlace.

The Connecticut Youth Summer Employment Program
The Connecticut Youth Employment Summer program is for Youth & Young adults (between 14-24 years old) living in one of the 20 towns served by The WorkPlace. Participants will be given the opportunity to earn wages during the summer, hone workforce skills, and receive valuable training/work experience. Young Adults will have access to various occupational sectors to enhance their current strengths and abilities. Participants in this program will work up to 20 hours per week and earn minimum wage for seven weeks. The CT Youth Employment Program also provides year-round employment support. Please look forward to our summer program in 2025.
YouthBuild Bridgeport
YouthBuild Bridgeport is a pre-apprentice program that helps out-of-school Bridgeport residents between the ages of 16 to 24 learn construction and manufacturing skills. Participants receive on-the-job, hands-on, construction skills training utilizing an actual housing rehabilitation project or new construction site in the community that helps to create quality low-income housing. Additionally, participants receive GED preparation, life skills and job readiness training, leadership skills development, support services and job placement assistance.
Building Better Futures
Building Better Futures prepares young adults, ages 16-24, for today’s workforce through an innovative and hands-on five-week workshop series. These workshops are designed to elevate and enhance job-readiness skills. The purpose of Building Better Futures is to teach modern and relevant employability skills and techniques to assist and empower young adults on their career journey.
Participants will have the opportunity to gain skills in rapidly growing sectors like transportation, healthcare, construction, and manufacturing.
– Podcast Programs –
The Sound Effect
Do you have an interest in Media & Production? Have you ever considered being part of a podcast or even producing your own? The Sound Effect is an 8-week training that aims to guide you through creating, launching, and promoting a youth-based podcast. By focusing on content planning, recording, editing, and promotion, you will develop essential skills for producing engaging and meaningful podcast content for a youth & young adult audience. You will receive hands-on experience that allows you to explore the world of Media & Production at no cost to you!
