KeyBank has been a steady and generous supporter of The WorkPlace since 2017, providing funding for WorkPlace Scholarships, general operating support, and, most recently, for the ongoing operation of the American Job Center Career Coach. The Career Coach brings career services, computer training, and job search assistance to those who need them and do not have access to technology or to one of the American Job Center locations. With the support of KeyBank, the Career Coach can make regular visits to job seekers in cities and towns across southwest Connecticut. In addition to financial support, KeyBank employees volunteer their time and expertise with clients of The WorkPlace.

In addition to financial support, KeyBank employees volunteer their time and expertise with clients of The WorkPlace. They visit our classrooms and deliver a series of personal finance workshops called “Money, Me and Key”. This spring and summer, KeyBank employees led sessions with participants in the Platform to Employment Re-Entry program, helping them to understand and establish the personal practices that ensure a more financially secure future.

The WorkPlace is grateful to be a recipient of funding from Comcast’s Project UP, a $1 billion nationwide commitment to advance digital equity through programs and community partnerships that connect people to the Internet and advance economic mobility. The WorkPlace’s $20,000 grant from Comcast supports MaturityWorks, a Senior Community Service Employment Program run by The WorkPlace on behalf of HireAbility Vermont. The funds were used to purchase laptops for low-income Vermont residents, age 55 and older, who will use the technology to expand their job skills and re-enter the workforce.

The funds were used to purchase laptops for low-income Vermont residents, age 55 and older, who will use the technology to expand their job skills and re-enter the workforce. By accessing the Internet, these job seekers can participate in online training, attend virtual job coaching sessions, and explore new career opportunities.
As a state with one of the oldest populations in the country, MaturityWorks is making a difference in the lives of these residents, offering training options that do not rely on in-person programming and job counseling, including those in remote rural areas. Understanding technology is an essential component in returning to work and enjoying renewed economic security, so the impact of Comcast’s generosity is nothing less than life-changing for these Vermonters.
